It is unknown if this Anne is the same as the one in RI and it has not been proven that this Telesphore is the same man married to Marie Odile Houle. | MASSICOTTE, Marie Anne (I189)

118 | 12th Regiment Infantry in Spanish American War: (Wikipedia) During the Spanish–American War, the 12th Infantry was sent to Cuba, in June 1898, and participated in the storming of the Spanish fortress in the Battle of El Caney, where the 12th had the distinction of capturing the Spanish colors. At the conclusion of the War with Spain, the regiment was immediately deployed in February 1899 to the Philippine Islands to reinforce other Army units fighting elements of the Filipino Army that resisted the United States after they defeated the Spanish at the Battle of Manila. There, the regiment participated in three campaigns (Malolos, Tarlac, and Luzon 1899) of what was to be known as the Philippine–American War and then served as garrison troops, not returning to the United States until 1912. G On his pension record, the 12th Infantry service was recorded, and also service on a coastal artillery regiment - I assume this is what he did during World War I when he was 40 years old. He was already collecting a pension before admission to the US Veterans' Hospital in Hampton, Virginia (where he spent 3 months). This injury could have been related to the hernia reported at his discharge from duty in Cuba in 1898. | GAMACHE, Joseph Charles Adelphis (I4470)

131 | 1851 census in Northampton is unlikely, as are the two children there - Thomas and Elizabeth. He is not showing in the 1841 census there or in Willoughby. IN the 1827 land tax list he is shown in the cottage next to his mother Mary Ash (Hawkins, Watson). It is more likely that he died. There is a story about him being a canal boatman, and his daughter Elizabeth marrying Emmanuel Smith, also a well researched boatman. Google them - interesting web-site. | HAWKINS, Thomas (I111)
